Innovative educator with a strong focus on fostering positive relationships and differentiated instruction. Committed to creating engaging lesson plans that meet diverse student needs and drive academic success.
From the very beginning of my teaching career student competitions were very important for our district. I even entered works as a long-term substitute teacher where I did not know what I was doing. My students did take home a number of medals so that really was a feather in my cap. And I was hired the following year at the same school.
I continued to enter competitions throughout my teaching career. Some of them were national and some were for my state.
BFA in Art education.
I am currently enrolled in the AWAI (American Writers and Artists Institute) as I am very interested in learning about marketing and copywriting.
Scholastics Arts is a state and national competition. Students can win Gold and Silver medals for their submissions. There are also more extinguished awards for both the students and educators. I had won both throughout my teaching career.
Anchor Art Awards, RI only. This one was a newer one a few years before my leaving. Students received medals.
PPAC (Providence Performance Arts) Summer Scholarship Program. My students did very well in terms of the number of them who received scholarships year after year when the number available for RI was a fairly low number. This is also a scholarship opportunity where students may receive prestigious scholarships where only a select few are awarded. My students received both.
One year, early in my career, I had the opportunity to send student work to Hungary to compete. I had a student win a Gold.
Sometimes there was the opportunity to send entire classes of works where, if selected, student works would be displayed in other countries. I had multiple students works chosen the years we entered.
