TRANSPORTATION TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

- Aggregate Coordinator for District 8. This position is responsible for sampling aggregates from all S-1069 pre-qualified ODOT suppliers in District 8. These samples are then sent to OMM for quality testing or kept in the district lab for gradation testing. Within this position I also frequently communicate with aggregate producers in District 8 to answer questions, assist with specification compliance, and troubleshoot issues with production or material handling. This position also requires frequent communication with the aggregate program coordinator at OMM and other district coordinators. Biannual inspection of all certified aggregate QC labs in District 8. Supervising and training multiple HT’s as they spend time in Test Lab to determine if they would be interested in remaining. I also assist with classroom training HTs for upcoming classes.
- Inspect asphalt production facilities and testing labs. Monitor asphalt production, record test results, resolve any issues that might arise. Collect production samples from all plants, when not available to monitor. Coordinate with asphalt producers when OMM requests materials for mix design verifications.
- Inspect all district concrete producer facilities annually. Check accuracy of aggregate scale, cement scale, and water batching system. Inspect concrete trucks to ensure they meet ODOT specifications. Collect samples of chemical admixtures to send to OMM for testing. Communicate with concrete producers and scale testing companies to schedule inspections. Inspect new trucks throughout the year and solve issues as they arise.
- Perform material reviews for projects that are ready to close out. Communicate with project staff and producers when issues arise.

- General highway maintenance duties such as cable/guardrail repair, pothole patching, litter clean up, roadside mowing, snow and ice removal, traffic control. Continued to advance my knowledge by rising from Highway Tech 1 to Highway Tech 3 C/M.
- Performed duties as a construction inspector for two seasons on the Eastgate Blvd. / S.R. 32 – 275 projects. In this position I was exposed to many aspects of highway construction such as bridge demolition and replacement, new roadways, drainage installation, concrete and asphalt placement, embankment construction, working with private contractors, problem solving, among other things.
