Providing supervision to all patient care areas in the hospital or assigned unit. The nurse supervisor promotes vision, mission, and values of the organization. The nurse supervisor must also meet the requirements and essential functions of the registered nurse. The nurse supervisor duties include the provision of managerial and clinical links between the Director of Nursing and/or nurse manager and department direction in their absence.

The registered nurse assumes primary leadership accountability and responsibility for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff. The registered nurse maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policies and procedures, other external governing and credentialing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards. The registered nurse interprets age/disability specific information in response to client population served. This position is responsible for thorough, accurate reporting, and documentation of the patient's symptoms, responses, and progress. The registered nurse assumes responsibility for professional development, continuing education, and maintaining licensure.

The public health nurse provides complex public health nursing work in a clinical or non-clinical setting. Work involves planning and developing nursing activities for the care of individuals, families, and communities; and providing for the assessment, care, and treatment of patients. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
