During my week volunteering with my church in the Appalachian Mountains, I gained valuable skills in construction, teamwork, and problem-solving. Working on building a home for a family in need, I developed hands-on experience with various building techniques such as framing, roofing, and interior finishes. I also gained the skill of cross-cultural collaboration with a very diverse team, improving my global awareness. Additionally, I adapted to unexpected challenges, finding creative solutions and maintaining flexibility to keep our projects on track. This experience not only enhanced my practical construction abilities but also deepened my sense of community and empathy. It was a rewarding experience to give back and work together toward a common goal.
