Work History

Aerospace - Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Howe Industries
04.2023 - 02.2025

A research and development company with a primary focus on advanced space and energy generation solutions.

  • Robotic Design and Rapid Iteration: Design and modeling of a robotic end effector for in-orbit replacement of modular spacecraft subsystem components compatible with an in-house, rapid subsystem integration platform. System integration for live tech demos for members of the Space Force, The Aerospace Corporation, and others.
  • Orbital Transfer Vehicle Design and Structural Modeling: Structural design for an OTV to be used as a demo spacecraft for an in-house thruster prototype. Adhered to strict mass budget and structural load and vibration requirements. Performed finite element analysis (FEA) using Autodesk Inventor and COMSOL to verify resultant safety factor.
  • Design for Manufacturing and 5-Axis Mill Operation: Learned to design parts for manufacturing, generate tool-paths using Fusion 360's CAM suite, and safely operate a HAAS UMC-500. Manufactured dozens of parts for in-house prototypes, optimizing for speed of production and minimal part mass.
  • Thermal Modeling: Thermal modeling using COMSOL. Modeled photonic crystal selective emission insulation as a proposed method of passive satellite thermal control. Modeling included conductive, convective, and radiation heat transfer studies as well as coupled multi-physics simulations.

Project Engineer I

Quest Global
07.2022 - 04.2023

Performed the following roles as a contract service worker for Honeywell Aerospace:

  • Tucson HSR Support: Worked with teams from various sites to coordinate, document, and perform changes to aerospace drawings to alleviate production holds.
  • Tempe Momentum PM: Provided and tracked charge number usage for the Tempe WARP momentum project. Prioritized budget allocation based on urgency and quarterly profit.
  • Legacy Modeling: Invoked Code 3 changes and spec updates in legacy aerospace drawings such that their respective parts can be produced in accordance with their solid model counterparts.
