Summary

I am a self-motivated, disciplined Attorney who decided to create my own law practice after I had obtained my license to practice law less than 60 days prior. For the next 20 years, I achieved an over 95% Client Satisfaction rating on an annual basis & I became an effective communicator & problem-solver. I learned to work with the most difficult & diverse personalities that are found in society & I became a well-respected Contested Divorce/Matrimonial Actions Attorney.

I am fluent in Spanish (written & verbal) & Chinese (Mandarin).

Prior to my law career, I've demonstrated leadership in high-pressure environments, referring to my role as a Supervisor ('Quad Manager') during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games when, as a 24 year old who was a 2nd year law student, I supervised a team of 10-15 employees in Atlanta, GA during each day of that year's Games. I obtained that job directly from ACOG (Atlanta Commission for the Olympic Games). I feel that this experience which I've described below highlights my ability to demonstrate strong Leadership & Organizational Skills in a chaotic, disorganized & highly-scrutinized environment.

Attorney

Law Office of Henry Lung, PC
Mineola, USA
09.2000 - 12.2020
  • In the twenty (20) year period wherein I worked on my own without the benefit of having a Law Partner to share the workload with, I was hired by over twelve hundred (1,200) clients for cases in the following areas of law: 1) Domestic Relations/Matrimonial Actions (Divorces & Family Court cases); 2) Commercial Litigation; 3) Immigration Law; 4) Landlord-Tenant Law; 5) Debt Collection Matters; 6) Criminal Law; 7) Legal Malpractice; 8) NYS Dept. of Labor hearings.
  • Developed a unique path to becoming a well-respected Civil Litigation and Criminal Defense lawyer, navigating the complexities of the legal field independently.
  • Began career as a self-taught Civil Litigation lawyer in September 2000, after obtaining a law license in July 2000, and established a successful practice without prior employment in a law firm or public agency.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-teach complex legal concepts and apply them effectively to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • I am an extremely fast learner. I assure you that in the very large-scope practice of law with its diverse categories, there is no area of law that is as complicated, demanding & multi-faceted as the category known as Domestic Relations Law/Matrimonial Actions.
  • In New York State, there are over one million (1,000,000) licensed lawyers that are competing for business from the same client base. It would not surprise me if less than Ten (10) lawyers out of this large group took the same path that I took in order to become a well-respected, highly efficient Civil Litigation & Criminal Defense lawyer who became a well-known name in the field of Domestic Relations/Matrimonial Actions.
  • A close friend recently told me that on the Justia.com website, I am still listed in the Top 10 of most widely regarded Domestic Relations lawyers on Long Island.
  • I do not expect most people to understand what the term 'self-taught lawyer' means, so let me explain. unlike the medical profession which has a mandatory ‘residency’ program that each medical student, after graduating from medical school, must complete over the course of several years before that newly minted doctor can practice medicine on his/her own, the profession of law does not impose a similar requirement upon law school graduates in any of the 50 states in the US.
  • Therefore, any new lawyer, after having passed the state’s Bar Exam & then having been sworn in to practice law in that state, can immediately begin representing clients & engaging in the practice of law without having ever been required to work, not even for 1 day, under the supervision of an older lawyer, at a law firm or under the supervision of an entity such as the local District Attorney’s office.
  • The law schools in the US, as a rule, do not teach their students how to actually practice law. This is true when I attended law school in the 1990s & it is still true in 2026. There is no section of any state’s Bar Exam that comes close to testing the exam takers on their knowledge of the actual practice of law in that state.
