As a team leader, I currently run the podium with another fellow team leader. Which is where I have gained most of my multitasking, and organizational skills.
The podium is where every loader comes to get assigned their trailer, and where everyone of my other team leaders comes to get answers on the trailers they have, had, and will have in the door.
Other responsibilities at the podium ensuring that all of the "A loads" (which are priority) are completed as soon as possible, If the "A load" is full I have to make sure I get ahead of the computer system and bring in the correct "B load" before the next trailer hits one of the 27 conveyor doors.
I am required to keep detailed pallets counts throughout the day consisting of how many pallets were loaded on the trailer, or how many pallets didn't make it onto the trailer.
Along with those responsibilities I have to keep track of the loaders break times, listen for the call outs from the team leaders on the floor which lets me know how much room the trailer had left, meanwhile listening for the phone incase dispatch needs to get information to me.
Set performance expectations for the teams of loaders in the morning meeting, assigning partners, and throughout the day monitoring progress towards goals and providing constructive feedback as needed.
Empower team members by delegating responsibilities according to individual strengths and areas of expertise.
Holding supervision over 60 loaders while ensuring product is loaded safely, and in a timely manner.
Maintain a high level of multi tasking and organization skills while working 12 plus hours throughout the busy season.
Before becoming a team leader I acquired an EPJ, and Stand up forklift certification. During that time I was a skilled driver on both pieces of equipment.
