Port Captain responsibilities include:

• Managing a weekly pro forma of five roll-on, roll-off, and container vessels into and out of the Port of Norfolk, operating in a 12-hour window to maintain schedule.
• Manage stevedore labor during vessel operations to guarantee that vessels stay on schedule and under budget.
• Order and schedule pilots, tugs, line handlers, stevedore labor, and vendors while working on a strict schedule and budget.
• Coordinate with agents about all customs concerns.
• Oversee stevedore labor, and ensure operations are managed in a safe and efficient manner, and instruct stevedore labor on how to efficiently manage cargo operations.

Terminal Operations Manager responsibilities include.

• Oversee the terminal operation associated with all import and export cargo to ensure operations are completed within budget and deadline.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders and terminals to ensure cargo is delivered on schedule.
• Hire and coordinate outside vendors required for the receiving and delivery of heavy lift and RORO cargo.
• Manage equipment availability for export cargo.
• Verify, approve, and pay invoices associated with terminal and vessel operations.

• Manage ILA Union labor to ensure safety and productivity, and plan ILA Union labor and equipment for steamship lines.
• Work with ILA Union labor to maximize the productivity of 35 container moves per hour.
• Delegate responsibilities among multiple different parties.
• Implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
• Monitor computerized automation systems to ensure that all equipment is operational, and production levels are met or maintained in accordance with goals and objectives.
• Expertise in break bulk, roll-on/roll-off, and heavy lift.

• Fabricating, assembling, and installing a wide variety of components onto aircraft carriers, submarines, and other surface ships
• Manage ILA Union labor to ensure safety and productivity to meet deadlines
• Provide and plan ILA Union labor and equipment to steam ship lines
• Work with ILA Union labor to maximize productivity and relations
• Facilitate operations for the Port of Virginia
• Delegate responsibilities between multiple different parties
• Implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
• Customer resolution liaison
• Monitor computerized automation systems to ensure that all equipment is operational and production levels are met/maintained in accordance with goals and objectives
