  • This includes managing continuous IV drips, insulin drips, insulin pumps (though more rare and often managed by parents), injections, PO medications, rectal medications and preps, preparing for OR, completing thorough assessments on often non-verbal patients, and being prepared for rapid change in condition or status
  • This unit also manages special procedures when SPU is not scheduled for patients of all ages, providing blood transfusions, platelets, plasma, infusion therapies, and other specified physician ordered treatments.
