New York Cancer & Blood Specialists- 90 hours: Senior capstone done in infusion unit in clinic. I helped nurses take in patients, obtain vitals signs, and get them comfortable to start their treatment. I assisted nurses in charting, preparing medications prior to chemo medications as well as prepping iron infusions. I helped discharge patients and assisted in removing peripheral IVs. I was able to witness nurses access chemo ports and maintain sterility.

Mental Health- Queens Hospital- 45 hours: Built therapeutic relationships with patients and observed for any changes in mood or behavior. I participated in treatment planning and implementing care. I observed patients participating in milieu therapy and group therapy as well as nurses showing deescalation techniques.

Stroke Step Down Unit- Jamaica Hospital- 45 hours: Performed supervised neurological assessments and reported any sudden changes to the RN. Assisted with patient positioning and mobility and supported patients throughout their care. 

Assisted Living Facility- Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center- 90 hours: Provided help to residents with their ADLs and encouraged participation in activities. I shadowed an NP and was able to witness direct care being given. I assisted the nurse with wound care and glucose monitoring.

Pediatric Unit- New York Presbyterian (Queens)- 45 hours: I obtain vital signs to pediatric patients of all ages and worked with the RN to administer medications and prepare IV lines. Communicated with patients and families to help promote comfort throughout their care. 

Labor and Delivery - Queens Hospital- 45 hours: Observed and helped nurses deliver care of laboring and postpartum patients. Assisted in education to new mothers with breastfeeding and continuous care of newborn.

Medical Surgical Unit- New York Presbyterian (Queens)- 90 hours: Provided supervised patient care such as vital signs, hygiene, ADLs, and head to toe assessments. Administered medications with RN including PO meds, IV, and injections.
