Roles And Responsibilities

  • Limitless Male Medical Clinic, Clinic Staff/Supervisor, In addition to the roles and responsibilities of a Clinical Staff member and Clinic Supervisor, I was also given additional responsibilities, including but not limited to
  • Des Moines International Airport, Firefighter/Paramedic- Acting Deputy Chief, Ensure appropriate response to calls for immediate assistance for medical or traumatic emergencies. Responses could vary from patient emergencies on airport property, aircraft emergency incidents, confined space rescue, and promptly responding to other hazardous incidents. My primary role in any incident could be as a team leader or member of the responding team. Additional duties included providing direct patient care, leading the EMS team, and coordinating the response of additional agencies, if needed, to provide optimum emergency assistance.
  • Mercy College of Health Sciences, Adjunct Faculty- Instructor- Part-time, Performs duties as a primary instructor for several American Heart Association courses such as Basic Life-Support, Advanced Cardiac Life-Support, Pediatric Advanced Life-Support, and Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization. Participates as both lecture and skills faculty for basic and advanced level EMS students, or healthcare providers seeking continuing education. Functions as a performance evaluator for skills evaluations for course students. Skills taught and evaluated included IV therapy, EKG recognition, patient assessment including interview and physical assessment, and airway management.
  • Mercy College of Health Sciences, Lead Faculty Member, Coordination of adjunct faculty, schedule, and student activities during AHA courses. Managed equipment, supply inventory, and evaluation of students to adhere to AHA requirements. Documentation of student experience for Quality Assurance purposes.
  • Mercy One, Flight Paramedic, Respond to flight requests and perform the comprehensive duties required based on the emergency. Knowledgeable in aircraft, aviation regulations, and advanced aeromedical care to patients suffering from acute illness or injury. Additional duties included public relations activities, marketing, staff development, and completion of daily duties such as inventory, safety inspections, and assisting with patient care in other hospital departments as needed.
  • City of Grimes Fire Department, Paramedic/Firefighter/Engineer/Officer, Respond to 911 calls and perform the comprehensive duties required based on the emergency. Traffic control, fire suppression, hazardous material management, technical rescue, and advanced medical care to patients suffering from acute illness or injury. Additional duties included public relations activities, staff training, and the completion of daily station duties.
  • Unity Point—Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Paramedic, Perform initial triage and participate in interdisciplinary care of patients in both the adult and pediatric emergency departments, under the supervision of the ED physician.
