PREVENTIVE MEDICINE DETACHMENT COMMANDER

  • Commanded a forward deployed Preventive Medicine Detachment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom capable of providing both environmental and entomological support to over 17,000 Soldiers and all base camps within Baghdad Area of Operation to include an additional 32 Forward Operating Bases (FOBs).
  • Conducted mosquito surveillance throughout the Baghdad Theater of Operation identifying vectors of medical concern educating Soldiers of insects that pose medical risk including insecticide applications and treatments reducing the risk of disease transmission.
  • Directed and provided Preventive Medicine Health Service Support and Force Health Protection programs to protect Soldiers, helping enhance combat effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the oversight and execution of more that 150 Base Camp Assessments, sanitary inspections, 500 field water assessments, 5,000 bottled water samples and over 180 air samples throughout the Baghdad Area of Operation.
  • Orchestrated unit missions to treat over 320 uniforms of the Ugandan Forces who furnished security for Forward Operating Bases in and around Baghdad.
