I am currently the building official for two cities in Siskiyou county. I am in charge of building plan check. I asses the building plans and verify that they meet 2022 California Building Code standards as well as all Tittle 24 requirements for energy efficiency. I calculate all fees associated with the building permit application and process the paperwork. Once the paperwork side of the permitting process is finalized I am then in charge of field inspection of the project. I inspect everything from foundations, framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and Roofing. I verify that they are building to 2022 building standards as well as quality control of the building.
I owned and operated a Roofing and restoration business. We repaired water, wind and fire damage to homes in the greater Phoenix metro area. This business then expanded to Hail storms in other states. We roofed houses and repaired all wind or hail damaged dwellings. We repaired all damaged items from the storm. these items included roofing, windows, gutter, siding and garage doors. If there was interior damage from water penetration into the dwelling we would repair those items like drywall, flooring insulation etc. This also turned into fire and water restoration as well. In these claims we repaired everything from structural damage to finishes.
I started working in the shop for them and attending Universal technical institute. I started working days and attended school at night. I soon became one of the top shop mechanics for the company. Once you have proven your efficiency you are moved into a field service truck. When working on a service truck you are a mobile shop. You make all repairs in the field. The repairs to the machine range from simple fixes to major repairs. I worked on all mechanical items like engine, transmission, a/c, electrical and hydraulic repairs. We also made all structural repairs. So welding of buckets, booms, frames etc. I was sent to many different schools for various different types of machines. Everything from small compact tractors like skid steer's and mini excavators to large mining equipment that my service truck could park in the bucket.
I first started following my dad and packing his gas and oil. I also carried all of his wedges and axe. He slowly taught me how to limb and buck timber and why we fell trees in the direction, called lead from the landing. As I got older he slowly gave me more and more responsibilities in his business. When I was 13 I began to carry a saw and limb and buck timber behind my Dad in the summers and every break from school that we had. By the time I was 16 years old I was a full time timber faller for my dads company. I was also responsible for running three jobs for my dads company. I was in charge of every aspect of the job from hiring timber fallers, making sure we were both productive and profitable as well as firing those employees who were not productive,
