While at the District Attorney's Office, I worked in the Insurance Fraud Unit of the District Attorney's Office for approximately 13 1/2 years.
I was on the premium fraud task force, for approximately 8 years investigating worker's compensation premium fraud cases. One of my cases I was the lead investigator on was GNS Janitorial, which at the time became the largest premium fraud loss case in San Diego County history. While on the Premium Fraud Task Force I assisted with training and mentoring other investigators as well as working with other State agencies and insurance companies.
From 2017 to 2022, I was assigned to the Urban Grant Task Force at the Department of Insurance. I investigated complex, multiple suspect auto insurance fraud cases. One case I was the case agent involved a Geico Insurance adjustor who submitted approximately 21 fraudulent claims involving 7 individuals with approximately $150,000 in loss. All the individuals were subsequently charged and eventually pled guilty and paid restitution.
On the Urban Grant Task Force I was a mentor to other investigators on the Task Force supplying input on steps needed to investigate a case to have a successful prosecution. I networked with different law enforcement agencies and insurance companies.
From April 2025, to the present, I have worked as a part time District Attorney Investigator, investigating single auto insurance fraud cases. As a part time investigator I mentor new investigators in the unit on the steps to successfully investigate an auto insurance fraud case. I accounted for approximately 70% of the single auto cases investigated and submitted for prosecution in the unit this past year.
I was employed with the San Diego Police Department for approximately 20 years. I was a Detective for approximately 12 years. As a Detective, I investigated persons, property and narcotic related crimes.
