James "JR" Patton

Co-founded 1833 Group LLC, a Democratic consulting firm aimed at helping candidates around the country with fundraising, general consulting, and field consulting. We have worked with candidates or organizations in 27 states ranging from local school board to United States Senate, as well as non-profit organizations and a handful of local governments. 1833 Group has been honored twice by the American Association of Political Consultants “Pollie Awards” and once by Campaigns and Elections with a Reed Award.

Appointed to fill a vacancy on the City Council in July 2017. Re-elected in a special election in April 2019 and re-elected for a full four-year term in 2021. Prior chair of the City Council Committee on Finance, overseeing a $43M annual municipal budget.

Started the progressive general consulting firm LaSalle Strategies with the goal of electing Democratic candidates around Illinois. Worked to elect 7 Cook County judges, 2 Illinois State Representatives. Also worked with campaigns for the Chicago City Council, the Chicago Mayoral race, and a Congressional candidate in Western Illinois.

Worked as Chief of Staff to the Mayor, overseeing 350 full-time municipal employees and serving as the direct supervisor to all municipal department heads. Also oversaw the complete re-structuring and modernization of our Public Works Department and our Department of Inspectional services.
