The IRBs are federally mandated review committees, operating under regulations promulgated by the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at UT Tyler functions to ensure that all human subject research conducted at the University is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and University policies; in addition to protecting study subject’s safety, rights, and welfare. The IRB Compliance Coordinator performs routine quality assurance that involves planning, developing, and administering internal quality assurance and compliance activities. This position will also develop and implement strategic action, quality improvement, and risk management plans with regard to human subjects’ research. This position will assist with identifying potential weaknesses of the HRPP and IRB and provide the HRPP Director with an analysis of outcomes. Additional duties include comparable support for IACUC and IBC committees, assisting in revising SOPs and internal policies.
