Critical Incident Service Pin, 2026

On April 21, 2025, there was a bank robbery at Diablo Valley Credit Union in Concord, CA, that turned into a police pursuit, terminating in San Jose, CA.  My role in this incident was as a call taker who maintained communication with the San Jose Police Department, in order to provide on-going location updates with officer whereabouts, as they had lost radio communication with dispatch and were relaying information via cell phone.  The incident ended with an officer involved shooting and the successful detention and arrest of both suspects.

As a career police dispatcher, I've been a staunch advocate for the Latino Community & Dispatcher Wellness. Within the community, I taught a 10-week course called "The Parent Project" in 2023-2024, to Spanish-speaking parents of challenging youth on how to motivate, support and guide their teenagers towards a safe and crime-free lifestyle. I advocated, planned and budgeted to include dispatchers in the City of Concord's annual Emergency Preparedness Fair to get them out of the Communications Room and out into the public to meet the citizens they serve daily.  I advocated to include police dispatchers into the Peer Support program that had been established with patrol, in order to fit specific needs for dispatchers during times of mental health challenges.
