As the School Library Media Specialist for the past 24 years, I have played a crucial role in providing support for a strong culture of reading in a dynamic learning environment that integrates information literacy, research, and technology skills. I collaborated with the Language Arts department to enhance student learning through effective use of library resources and technology.

I was responsible for providing direct instruction to each seventh and eighth grade Unified Arts Media Literacy class, daily. In addition, working with the library assistant and teachers to manage the library’s book collection including curating, ordering, and book displays. Also, managing the library budget, the circulation database, and its periodical and online subscriptions. Overseeing the library support personnel. Types of programming included, engaging with classes about reading promotions and research, running 45 book fairs, and many author visits.

Responsible for assisting customers in a kind and knowledgeable way for recommending just the right books by engaging in book-related discussions, creating displays, organizing products, shelving.
