Volunteer Experience

  • USO, 23, 12/13, Baked goods for a cookie caravan for the troops for a military base in Japan, other than the one I was residing in. Made over 300 pieces of lumpia for the single and unaccompanied sailors for Christmas Day for the Yokosuka USO.
  • American Red Cross, 107, 01/14-12/14, I volunteered at the Navy College Office at the Yokosuka Naval Base. I answered phones, set up appointments for AD members and spouses to meet with the counselors, reserved classrooms for different commands for their courses, provided TA training, and helped get the graduation cap and gowns presentable for the ceremony. I volunteered at the Sullivans Elementary School in the kindergarten class of Mrs. Mohan. I read the children books creating a story time for them post lunch and recess. I also helped in the literacy center in the classroom. I helped the children build and write sentences.
  • Youth Sports (Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka), Tball Season, 2014, I coached a 3-4 year old team (11 children) along with a 5-6 year old team (12 children). I taught the kids the fundamentals of the sport while encouraging teamwork.
