Jason was hired at Bloomington Hospital as a temporary employee in the Patient Transportation Department in July 2010. Eight months later, he was promoted to the supervisory role, where he worked interdepartmentally to ensure safe and efficient transport of patients. Jason participated in Rapid Improvement Events as well as extra courses offered to achieve both a Green and Bronze Belt in Lean Six Sigma Training. In June of 2014, Jason began his role as a Patient Advocate in the Clinical Risk Management Department. He worked diligently across departmental lines as well as with physicians, staff, patients, families and administrators to ensure patient concerns were properly filtered and resolved appropriately. In August of 2020, Jason accepted the role of Regional Manager of Experience Design.
Jason has worked with his system coworkers to develop a presentation entitled “Dealing with Difficult People” which has been shared locally with over 600 bedside nurses during the 2018 Nurse Retreats, as well as multiple times at other facilities throughout the system. He also was a keynote speaker for 2018 Nursing Week Grand Rounds at IU Health Bloomington Hospital and 2023 System Resource Nurses Retreat with his own presentation, #Selfie. Jason has spoken for numerous other events including New Employee Orientation, New Provider Orientation, Hospitals Against Violence, and delivered the address for the December 2018 Leadership Academy Commencement. In October of 2021, Jason passed the certification exam to be recognized as a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP).
