Elevated to Assistant Store Manager at Vitamin Shoppe, I leveraged problem-solving and leadership skills to enhance store operations and customer experience. Mentored by industry leaders, I drove sales growth and improved team performance, showcasing my ability to manage inventory and foster customer relationships. Achieved notable sales increase, demonstrating my commitment to excellence and team development.
After 3-4 yrs as a key holder, the opportunity to become Assistant Store Manager presented itself and I immediately applied without hesitation. We had a temporary District Manager at the time, Mr. Duane Pivot. It was great to have met him and he provided me with all the tools as I got promoted to ASM. The transition was not very difficult for me personally as I just stayed motivated and learned everything I could to be a successful contributor to the company. Dana Rivera who later became our DM was a very great contributor to my growth, as well as Mr. Daniel Garza, our current leader of District 213.
My tenure as key holder was for about 3-4yrs and learned most importantly to be a motivator, operator and driver of sales. Being self motivated is something I take pride in along with a customer focused mindset. My problem solving was very key for me as well as collaborating with my managers and part time employees. Being agile as a leader was also a learning experience and sharpening my multi task skill set in order to comply with company expectations.
I was only a part time employee for about 3-4 months. I would regularly pick up shifts or extra hours in order to potentially move up to a full time position. My hard work paid off as I was given a key holder position and my career at Vitamin Shoppe officially began.
One of the most difficult things I’ve had to do in my life was making sales over the phone as a sales agent. I used tone of voice, listening skills and just overall communication with the client to built those relationships to help better the company sales expectations. At times I’d take as much as 100-120 call per day providing customer service, technical support and patience as some calls would take over an hour helping program cable and/or mobile phones. Problem solving and drive for results were both skill sets that I was able to develop throughout my tenure.
This job was physically demanding, but I learned a lot about water pipelines, installing full water systems and water purification while working for Tru Water. Also had to speak to customer’s and keep a solid work environment while at the clients home. It’s very different when you have to work with those surroundings or in a big ranch with a lot of area to work on. Very tough job, but it helped my overall growth and maturity to accept those challenges while staying motivated.
