In the kitchen I would do a lot of different tasks such as
I answer phone calls and transfer them where they need to go if needed, give tours of the facility, deliver messages to nurses and residents. Interact with the people who come through the door and help them figure out where they are going. I only do this on the weekends, Saturday & Sunday.
I took care of an elderly woman one on one full time, kept her company and helped her know where she was at and what she was doing. We would go on walks, go to exercises, color, interact with other residents, and lots of crafts/activities. This job taught me a lot more about responsibility, respect, & patience.
I watched Russell Dowman for a long time. Being his care giver included lots of different things such as taking him out to eat, making him meals, staying overnight when his parents were gone, taking him on walks, showering, dressing him, putting him to bed, etc. This job was lots of fun but difficult at times. Russell has autism so that's what made this job so important to me.
