State Tested Nursing Assistant

Miami Valley Hospital Main
Dayton, OH
03.2024 - Current
  • - As a STNA, I work with nurses assisting them with patient's needs, such as walking, caring for the patient and providing comfort and ease directly after surgery.
  • - In my place of practice, I work in a Surgery unit, where we specialize with patients post anesthesia. Then once they are recovered by the nurse, one of my responsibilities is making sure they get to the next step in their recovery, whether that be going home, or staying the night in the hospital.
  • - Our department runs very structurally; to be truly successful we find it very important to lay out how many patients, and what type of surgeries we will recover. Another part of my job, which I enjoy, is answering phone calls from the OR (operating room), patients at home while keeping a well-mannered one and helpfulness in guiding phone calls. We then keep track of every record of surgery, from what time to all the way to what insurance paid for it. It is my pleasure to conduct this part of my job because it allows me to stay organized and on track for the day.
  • Provided direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance to roughly 60 patients per shift in surgery medical facility.
