• Direct, coordinate, and control the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department related to all aspects of department services and provisions.

• Identify best practices for medication safety. Analyze current practices that contribute to medication errors and take proactive steps for prevention. Facilitate process and system changes and reduce the likelihood of occurrence and recurrence of error.
• Responsible for human resource management functions of the pharmacy department, staff assessments/competencies and performance appraisals.
• Formulate educational sessions for nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and allied health professionals based on reports in the literature, responses to corrective action plans, and recommendations from committee activities.
• Chair representation of the hospital and pharmacy department in various industry/professional associations.
• Coordinate and facilitate the orientation of trainees and new employees to department full scope of services, general operations, technology, and equipment.
• Coordinate pharmacy student’s education extern clerkship experience and residency programs within the department.
• Oversee the storage and distribution of all pharmaceutical items and ensure compliance to established inventory control, standards, procedures and federal and state regulations.
