Statement of Teaching Philosophy

As a college mathematics educator, I believe that teaching is both an art and a science, requiring a balance of clear conceptual explanation, practical application, and encouragement of critical thinking. I am passionate about helping students see themselves as “math people”, showing them that mathematical ability is not innate but developed through effort, practice, and persistence. My goal is to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel empowered to engage with mathematical ideas, build confidence, and develop problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Ultimately, my teaching philosophy centers on fostering a lifelong appreciation for mathematics, equipping students with the analytical skills necessary for their academic and professional journeys, and nurturing a classroom community built on respect, curiosity, and mutual support.
