Float nurse to pediatric Med-Surg units, hematology unit and Pediatric rehab unit

TICU unit- Technology Dependent Intensive Care Unit- Provide care for chronically ill babies and children with technology dependent needs in the hospital setting. Large focus on family education. Common diagnosis: BPD, Tracheomalasia, Tracheal stenosis, Anoxic brain injury, Genetic/Chromosomal abnormalities, Trach and Vent dependent ex-premies, Neuromuscular disorders, FTT, Feeding disorders, Seizure disorders, CP.

• Care for children weaning from Trilogy and LTV ventilators
• Provide Tracheostomy care, Trach, Oral, NP suctioning, trach changing and airway maintenance
• BPAP/CPAP
• Apnea/Brady monitoring
• Provide intensive Parental/Family teaching in preparation for discharge of their technology dependent child
• Collaborate closely with Pulmonologists, Intensivists, Nutrition, Social work, PT, OT, ST and child life
• Provide developmental activities and stimulation for developmentally delayed patients
• Charge Nurse and preceptor for new RNs and Role transition nurses

Nurse manager/charge nurse of a 20 bed pediatric Rehabilitation unit. Responsible for patient and staff day to day activities on unit as well as collaborating with Medical director, doctors, and Therapies.

• Pediatric Rehab hospital-Common patient diagnosis: Burn rehab, Asthma, Diabetes, Orthopedic rehab, JRA, Spina Bifida, Head trauma recovery
• Administered medications via oral, gastrostomy tube, Intramuscular injections and monitored responses
• Conferred with physicians to discuss diagnosis and devise well-coordinated treatment approaches
• Monitored patients condition and report changes in physical presentation, appearance and behavior to physician
• Collaborate treatment plan with PT/OT/ST and child Life

Adult Med-Surg Unit

• Managed all elements of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer of adult med-surg patients
