Our client is a solidly-funded, Series A consumer mobile app startup in the personal betterment space. Their suite of consumer mobile apps have helped nearly 1MM users achieve success in various areas of health, including getting fit, losing weight, quitting smoking, and others that have yet to be dreamed up (by you + the team!). Their approach is based on scientific principals of behavioral change, with underpinnings in research from the U of Pennsylvania and Brown University. 
 
They are now seeking to hire their first Lead or Head of Product Design on a temp to perm basis, who's got startup experience (a must), is a fantastic, UX-geared designer, has B2C consumer mobile experience, and who ideally has managed and built teams in the past (or have strong mentoring experience, and this would be an exciting yet natural step up for you.) 
 
Your first year will no doubt be an exciting one: you'll spearhead a major redesign of an already successful consumer app ecosystem, and help expand their product offerings across many more areas of personal wellness. Down the road, youll be empowered to build your team from scratch once you've had some time digging in on design yourself + setting up the department. 
 
Their science-based, incentivized games, in which users participate with their IRL friends/ family / coworkers, or through virtual support communities, have enabled participants to lose millions of pounds, form otherwise healthy habits (quitting smoking, running, walking, etc) and earn millions of dollars. Some of their games are hosted by well-known influencer hosts with cach (Tim Ferris, Jillian Michaels) = an additional cherry on the motivational sundae! 
 
More about you:
<ul>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Youre a full stack, hands-on product designer who is a naturally ambitious leader, AND you like to build things at heart. Youre a maker, a do-er, a visionary, and an up-and-comer.</li>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">While you may lean UX-y and really enjoy dealing in design complexity and user research, youre comfortable also taking product design through Visual UI pixel-perfection as far as possible.</li>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">You've got significant experience launching + iterating consumer mobile apps:
<ul>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">You are able to think + speak about design in terms of KPIs and success metrics, and you concern yourself with both the impact on users AND on the business.</li>
</ul>

<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Ideally you've got past experience managing at least 1-2 designers, and youve ideally hired and built a small team, or helped with that process

Youre okay with uncertainty, working within a small scrappy team, and are low-ego (ie, you arent above filling the coffeemaker if it needs to be refilled everyone pitches in, in an all hands on deck way)</li>

<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Spearhead significant redesign, to take this suite of apps thoughtfully and creatively to the next level</li>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Build your own team: youll be empowered to hire 2 product designers down the road, and be empowered to weigh in on future design/research hiring</li>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Establish product design processes and best practices</li>
<li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Work closely and collaboratively with Product and Engineering</li>
