  • Since working at Shalom, my duties have been varied
  • I have administrative duties as the assistant to the Chief Nursing Officer, as well as patient care responsibilities when working in the schools in Shalom's school based program

  • At Carle, my duties included a substantial amount of telephone triage, which heightened my critical thinking skills greatly, but also involved rooming patients, helping providers perform in-office procedures, point of care testing, placing orders from providers in the EMR, and providing teaching to patients and families
  • During my time at Carle, I obtained my Pediatric Nursing Certification, became a level III nurse on the nursing ladder (Carle is a Magnet facility), along with being on the Professional Practice Committee, and eventually becoming co-chair of that committee as well
  • In addition to those duties, I stepped in and taught a class on telephone triage to the nurses in the residency program to help the education lead, who needed to be out.

  • I would also do any testing that was ordered by the provider that we had available, which included things such as urinalysis, hemoglobin, blood glucose, etc.
