- Receives training in wildland, rural, and structural fire suppression tactics.
- Responds to all types of emergencies such as medical, public needs, fires, and hazmat calls.
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs tools used for the job such as hose, ladders, hydraulic tools, etc.
- Educate the public on the importance of defensible space around their homes and structures.
- Initiated first aid to life savings procedures depending on the kind of medical emergency.
- Learned how to program BK radio and Motorola 800 handheld and vehicle mounted radios.
- Set up EKGs, obtained vitals and helped paramedics care for the patients on the field.
- Fights fire as a member of the hand crew using tools such as a shovel, Pulaski, McLeod and back pump.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
