RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a technical advisor and mentor to the site management team while working with VPHR to develop and implement strategies to control immediate risks in the workplace and find solutions to complex S&H problems.
  • Participate in internal S&H inspections and audits to identify conditions, behaviors, corrective action implementation/compliance, and/or training related corrective actions and needs.
  • Work with all employees and staff to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company S&H standards and systems.
  • Accompany management for weekly inspections and MSHA and State inspectors during inspections.
  • Assist with health testing and industrial hygiene activities as needed.
  • Serve as a resource or facilitator for incident investigations; either ICAM Taproot, or Root Cause to ensure that all incidents are accurately investigated to determine root cause. Assist with development of meaningful and effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence of safety incidents or industrial hygiene exposures.
  • Ensure effective reviews are conducted on corrective actions with participation of management and hourly personnel in the department.
  • Assist with accurate reporting of all incidents into Safety Plus and development of flash, summary, senior leadership review reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in databases.
  • Support and/or facilitate Formal Risk Assessments by developing and monitoring action plans.
  • Maintain and sustain active involvement with Safety Management team and committees.
  • Provide mentorship and support to all employees.
  • Actively participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and other training sessions.
  • Develop and instruct MSHA New Miner Orientation, Annual Refresher Training, and Business partner Hazard Training and Introduction to Work Environment.
  • Conduct Drug and Alcohol Testing in accordance with the D&A Policy.
  • On-call responsibilities are required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
