Work History
Production Supervisor
Marathon Oil
Dunn Center, ND
11.2023 - Current
Oversaw a team of operators and leads responsible for the safe operation of 275 wells at roughly 50 facilities, ranging up to 17 wells per facility.
Collaborated with the safety team and operators to support our safety-focused culture, including the implementation of a hands-on training program that was field-based, to improve understanding of new automated sites and the hazards associated with them.
Responsible for training Marathon and contractor operators in my area, which covered days and nights, as well as pumping and flowback operations for all groups. As a part of this, I also led an effort to update our standards for training to include the new automated equipment and VRUs to aid with the onboarding of those new team members.
Optimized automated facility functions to reduce pressures in our bulk systems by 20% and improve throughput for a more reliable operation. This was done cross-functionally with construction and SCADA teams.
Hazwoper 40-hour certified, with field experience, including responses to production facilities, and pipeline issues.
Led troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions or operational problems daily. This included the review application of chemicals to aid in production assurance, along with the review of issues such as corrosion problems in valving, and the breakdown of seals/seats in separation equipment.
Maintenance and Reliability Engineer
Marathon Oil
Dickinson, ND
06.2022 - 11.2023
Lead the VRU program in the Bakken and established a system to successfully meet operational goals of 95% plus uptime. Started with average uptimes under 70%, and improved those in under a year, including upgrades to pressure control system materials to improve the reliability of skids.
Worked with operations and maintenance teams to improve treater downtime by 43% in 2023. This included a review of current neoprene and Viton gaskets, which were failing, and worked with a third-party analysis company, along with gasket design, to develop a graphite gasket that would eliminate the installation challenges and leaks associated with the gaskets.
Supported operations and maintenance from a field standpoint. This included guiding the team on repairs and troubleshooting for automation equipment, VRUs, and control valves, among other topics.
Oversaw integrity program for 2023 and 2024. This included testing and analysis of PSVs, flowlines, pipelines, and vessels. Results were analyzed, and recommendations to design changes and repairs were implemented.
Monitor and maintain flare performance for Bakken by implementing flare upgrades for all OOOOb facilities and CD HP flares, as well as safety upgrades to flare controls asset-wide.
Engineering Supervisor
Steffes
Dickinson, ND
12.2018 - 06.2022
Led a team of engineers and technicians that designed and supported all the oil field products for Steffes, including flares, flare controls, walkways, code vessels, and separation skids, in adherence to federal and state codes and customer specifications.
Oversaw the transformation of the team development systems within the Steffes engineering department (both within and outside my team).
Managed with a data-driven approach, including implementing the first tactical plan for our engineering team to focus team improvement efforts on key metrics.
Led overall project management efforts for the entire Steffes company, including setting standards with cross-functional teams, set to execute goals within overall corporate project management and innovation initiatives.
Provided cross-functional training, encouraging professional development, and overall cohesion in the workplace.
Product Engineer
Steffes
Dickinson, ND
12.2017 - 12.2018
Designed oil field products for Steffes, including the design of separation skids and flare products (including electrical control systems).
Led efforts to optimize material selection for flare pilot components, including the review and testing of various metals and coatings to optimize product reliability in various oil field applications, including H2S and liquids at high temperatures.
Support products for sales, manufacturing, and supply chain teams, involving customer training, troubleshooting, and problem-solving of both field and production issues, and second sourcing of components and specification clarification. This included a successful review and change to the positive displacement blower selection to add a low-cost coating, which improved the life of those components by 26%.
Led project management efforts for the team to implement collaborative systems to improve our ability to bring products to market. Implemented software and standards are still used today to execute projects across Steffes.
Plant Manager
Banner Engineering Corporation
Huron, SD
01.2013 - 12.2017
Managed day-to-day operations of the Huron plant and led the build-out of Banner's manufacturing plant in Mexico.
Managed expenses for the Huron facility, including capital improvements and operating expenses, as well as improvements to the facility and production equipment and lines.
Budgeting, approvals, and implementation of projects were involved in this with corporate and local resources.
Oversaw improvement projects, including technical support time reduction of 50% for one of our production lines, reduced scrap dollars on another line by 60%, and improved the efficiency of our LED lighting line by 43%.
I organized the Huron Operations and Sales teams to improve our on-time delivery rate in 2016 from 78% to 95%.
Spearheaded the overall startup of the Mexico manufacturing plant in 2015/2016: set up the ERP system, hired the initial staff, trained the initial staff, and created the overall plant layout.
Worked to ensure that component quality was meeting our specifications for our application, including extensive reviews of various plastics, die-cast aluminum and zinc-based components. This included improvements to process controls on our plastic injection molding processes to improve the sealing of the end product.

Accomplishments
Oversee all project management systems and processes at Steffes for entire company. Implemented, lead and sustain those initiatives across the company.
Cut 10% of the cost from key flare accessories through production improvements and component redesign. Done through collaboration with operations, supply chain team and vendors.
Troubleshot and resolved problems related to ultrasonic welding of plastic sensor housings which were related to sealing issues on the end product. Failure rates were in the range of 80%. Worked to change housing design along with better process controls on the component manufacturing process resulted in a reduction in those failures by 95%.
Improved water meter accuracy on test separation equipment through a project with our construction and SCADA teams. This included replumbing water dump lines and reprogramming the valve logic to maintain flow in the higher accuracy portion of the mag meter flow curve thus reducing rouhgly 60 hours of wasted labor every month retesting wells.
Lead Development of engineering team members to help grow and advance our engineering team in the areas of problem solving, communication, leadership and project management.
