Work History

Officer in Charge

Prince George’s County Police Department
  • Serving in a variety of positions over my thirty-eight years in law enforcement has allowed me to provide service to a diverse community. While at the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Oxon Hill Station working in the parts of that District that are inside the Beltway and are considered more urban provided a fast-paced experience in law enforcement. Patrolling the more rural areas of older farmland in the southern part of the Oxon Hill District provided more time to conduct a more intense initial investigation.
  • These assignments allowed me to gain valuable experience in dealing with a multicultural community. While assigned to the Beltsville Station serving as the Officer in Charge/Supervisor of the Community Policing Unit exposed me to great training, new ideas about quality service delivery and problem-oriented policing experience. The community-oriented policing assignment also afforded me the chance to work closely with members of the community to assist in forging stronger relationships built with trust and mutual respect with the community, government agencies and private businesses. While serving as the Officer in Charge of the District Investigative Unit, responsible for the management of investigations of crimes ranging from vandalisms to assaults with attempt to murder, provided a wealth of experience in conducting criminal investigations.
  • While working for the Bowie Police Department I have been certified as a general instructor and firearms instructor. This has allowed me to teach certified police officers on a range of topics to include firearms classroom, day, and low light qualification, judgmental, Critical Incident Management, Sexual Harassment, interacting with persons with Down Syndrome and Autism. I have served the city of Bowie Police Department as a lieutenant and member of the command staff for thirteen years. As part of the command staff I have managed the Patrol Section (responsible for calls of service and patrolling the city) and the Investigative Section (serious criminal investigation), this included the Community Policing unit (community events, police explorers school SRO).
