I am an enthusiastic student enrolled in a 3-year accelerated Sports Management program at Lynn University. My passion for sports and a strong desire to understand the intricate workings of the industry's business side have driven me to gain valuable experience outside of the classroom. I took on significant leadership roles at West End House Boys Camp, a nonprofit organization that is part of the Boys and Girls Club. I served as a Senior Counselor and Junior League Commissioner, which allowed me to immerse myself in coordinating sports activities. I was responsible for creating and organizing sports schedules, assigning co-counselors to officiate games, and ensuring the seamless execution of daily programs. The camp, under the leadership of Bill Margolin, who has served as camp director for 60 years, and current director Ryan Wilensky, works to ensure that every camper can attend, regardless of financial limitations. Thanks to generous donations from a strong alumni base, no camper is ever turned away due to financial hardship. This hands-on experience has allowed me to refine my ability to manage and structure sporting events efficiently.
Furthermore, my roles at the camp have helped me sharpen my leadership and organizational skills, which are vital in sports management. By balancing multiple responsibilities and overseeing the progression of the camp’s various leagues and sports events, I’ve developed a keen sense of teamwork and communication. These skills, alongside my ability to handle the logistical challenges of planning and executing sports activities, have prepared me for a future career in sports management. I am eager to continue developing these competencies, confident that my academic and practical experiences will equip me to thrive in the sports industry.
