I grew up in a christian homeschooling family with 8 siblings that helped me to learn how to get along with other people and work as a team. From the age of 7 I became a vital part of the family business, learning skills and work ethic in my dad's wood shop. Several years later dad started a lawn and landscape business where I learned to work like a man as a teenager. Sun, rain, and sometimes snow, we pushed through many difficulties to make a living for the family. Those challenges helped to develop grit, determination and perseverance in me. It also helped me to appreciate good team work and respect for my supervisors. Throughout my work experience, I have often found myself doing well as a solid team player and appreciating good relationships with supervisors.
I am currently helping my brother-in-law Isaac Krabill build an addition on his house in Christmas Valley OR. Due to needing work and my past construction experience, Isaac offered to pay me to help him with his projects. I have built fence, worked on a sawmill, operated equipment and supervised the framing portion of the addition.
This was a temporary position to help with the holiday shipping demand.
Safely operate truck, trailer and equipment while delivering horse shelters and storage buildings for our client's customers. These buildings were often oversized loads and at times required pilot cars to safely navigate traffic. I was also responsible for timely and efficient communication with the customers during the delivery planning and execution. Through professionalism, on the fly problem solving, grit and determination I was able to meet and exceed many of our clients and customers expectations. Though challenging at times, I really did enjoy my time working for Bizzy B Transport.
During this venture, I mostly worked under a general contractor, Cabinet Cedar Products. I helped build turnkey custom homes, performed renovations and various other projects on residential properties. I also assisted in the renovation and new construction of some industrial buildings at a lumber mill. I gained experience in concrete foundation and flatwork, wood and steel framing, roofing, insulation and operation of multiple types of construction equipment.
I worked as a builder on a assembly line that built storage sheds. The work was very physically demanding and required high energy. My responsibilities were to build certain walls according to the plan for that building, and also to assist any other building station that needed help.
I assisted with the construction of custom log and timber frame structures. I learned the necessary skills required for such specialized work, which included measuring, scribing and notching of logs and timbers.
I was also the company truck driver, responsible for transporting co-workers and hauling the company trailers.
