When I started as a lecturer, I knew I had a lot to learn. Imposter syndrome affects many of us in this field. But I immediately understood the difference between a subject matter expert and an educator. I relentlessly worked with Faculty Development experts to watch videos of my lectures and structure assignments properly - to develop a unique style of pedagogy. This experience gave me the confidence to return to industry, to put in practice concepts such as sales enablement, presentation preparation, and program management.
I love students. I love to be their teacher.
I recruit subject matter experts in software development, marketing, audio and video production, graphic design, and other areas. The partners work independently for these clients under the company brand. A recent achievement includes taking a client's Cambridge restaurant from zero Instagram followers to 100+, and increasing their Facebook post engagement by more than 200% in the last month.
I was responsible for the oversight, direction and development of all company marketing and business development initiatives. We evolved the firm from RFP (Request for Proposals) quotes and projects for governments and utilities to a B2B service provider. I created products and services based on market and competitive analysis, then deployed marketing and advertising messages to the marketplace. I researched, then recommended building a flagship SaaS product. The company built it, and we had launched UX/UI tests and outside partners to test it. COVID killed the company. It closed in August 2020.
I was a contractor/consultant for the firm with these achievements: assessing team readiness and capabilities, then identifying new product and service opportunities, and developing strategies to bring these to life. My recommendations resulted in the promotion to Sr. Marketing and Business Development Manager.
This was a temporary contract position “translating” highly scientific project proposals into content accessible for a wider audience - basically converting it into plain English. The deliverables from those projects were disseminated internally, but they were also viewed by a civilian audience and the press.
I began as an adjunct, teaching integrated lecture and lab to Master of Arts candidates in a capstone course titled The Evolution of Media.
Based on the success of the course and student evaluations, I was promoted to full-time faculty several months later.
Course assignments were research papers, followed by an APA-formatted final project. Because of the deep diversity in the grad school population, we utilized several approaches to reinforce outcomes: flipped classroom, jigsaw, live mobile phone quizzing/polling, limited lecture and a lot of short video explainers and examples.
I created the rubrics for each assignment and final paper, and served on the norming committee that evaluated and approved them.

I was the industry-facing representative for the department, creating direct career development programs for students, resulting in a BA and MA unemployment rate of less than seven percent. Post- grad employment metrics were tracked, then reported to the department chair. We created social accounts to publicize department-specific opportunities (internships and jobs).
I supported the design and creation of all department online courses, from start to finish. Touchpoints encompassed research to writing to video content and images/infographics used in them.
We worked collaboratively with the Online Education department to update course material, tutorials for software, also identifying UX and UI issues as well. I managed the online curriculum map and ensured learning outcomes were consistent in onsite and online versions of courses. This role included approving all course updates and new builds or rebuilds of existing courses, including rubrics. In the SP17 semester we created a pilot program to track and measure online student persistence and retention. Working with Online Ed, we identified external tools for the LMS which could aid students in course success. I built and designed SCORM-compliant courses using the university’s proprietary LMS and Articulate.
