• Research and apply the requirements of the IBC, IFC, NFPA 72, and applicable local fire codes and AHJ requirements to develop compliant fire alarm system designs.
• Design fire alarm systems using FireCAD and AutoCAD, including device layouts, riser diagrams, fire alarm matrices, and system details.
• Prepare complete fire alarm submittal packages for submission and review by Fire Marshals, AHJs, and local jurisdictions. IBC requirements for fire alarm shop drawings include floor plans, device locations, notification appliances, power supplies, battery calculations, voltage-drop calculations, wiring information, and fire safety control interfaces.
• Prepare as-built drawings and documentation for customers, reflecting the final installed fire alarm system and field modifications.
• Review AHJ comments and revise drawings and submittal documents as needed to obtain approval.
• Coordinate with field technicians, project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure the design accurately reflects site conditions and installation requirements.
