Joseph Basil

My name is Joseph Basil. I'm seeking a position in a moderate-to-fast paced work environment in which I can excel using my adaptable customer service and leadership skills. My preference regarding "pace" is based in my experiences as a student, athlete, Boy Scout, and In-N-Out Associate: I enjoy working, doing well and teamwork.

My first and longest work experience was at In-N-Out Burgers in Mira Mesa, San Diego. Like all employees, I started at the bottom, and i have served in every capacity at the store, from prep chef, cashier, drive-thru window, fry cook, grill, and in the pre-operation cleaning team - all of which were the function of a culture of customer service and team excellence. In 4 1/2 years, I received numerous local and regional awards for customer service, and "my" store was regularly recognized for performance success I had a direct impact with.

My most recent work and current work experience has been as a partner at the Starbucks Coffee Company located in Solana Beach, San Diego. There I am learning the art of coffee and the skills required to excel in that field.

Certainly, an element of my work ethic and leadership skills comes from my training and experience as a Boy Scout, and I am an Eagle Scout (2018) from Mira Mesa's Troop 474. As a Scout, I learned from more experienced Scouts and developed into an instructor, held leadership ranks including as the elected senior scout (Senior Patrol Leader) of the entire Troop and was privileged to work with other young men to learn and teach new skills, and to set and achieve both personal and team goals. Of course, I possess skills which may not be required "at work", but serve well in life: I can build a shelter in the rain, select the right knot to belay when rock-climbing, catch and prepare a trout from an alpine lake, set a tent and sink an axe, arrow or bullet in a target from a challenging distance. With fun, adventure and challenge come opportunities to communicate, learn and form relationships on a personal and organizational level. Scouts certainly provided me with those benefits.

I am a hard-worker, and I learn quickly - particularly with motivated instructors. I excel during "the rush", and I enjoy the opportunity to provide competent, courteous customer service. I look forward to showing you these things.
