Additional Information
Designed and implemented a plan to re-route intermodal traffic to a different Port in order to close Portsmouth Intermodal Facility. This plan reduced transportation and intermodal employees as well as eliminated equipment saving the company $13.1 million annually.
While managing a complicated Perdue grain pipeline (delivering trains when I say they will be there) I developed a system that delivers CSX grain trains to the foreign railroad and into the plant at Perdue AG ahead of the Norfolk Southern trains that are competing for the same reservation and track space with limited capacity.
Thinking outside the box, I was able to combine pools and worked with Labor Relations to create the AY DW I1 Pool (Syracuse to Worcester, MA and Syracuse to Port Newark, NJ) better utilizing man power and eliminating crew starts saving the company $1.3 million annually.
While in Portsmouth, my customer switch data came in at a perfect 100% where I led the system as one of the top performing managers in customer service. This was an increase of 12.5% over the last year, and a total increase of 37.5% since my arrival at Portsmouth. This shows my dedication and commitment to servicing my customers.
Realigning the Portsmouth train schedules, I was able to beat out the planned velocity of 17.5 with 20.6 moving my trains 17.71% faster than the network plan. Since implementation of the new train schedules, there has been an increase of 12.6% velocity overall.
By setting expectations and enforcing high standards, I had ZERO injuries and ZERO human factor train accidents on my territory. I am happy to say that we celebrated 1,181 days free from injury, and 1,163 days since the last human factor.
Worked with Labor Relations and the Unions where I was able to negotiate new local assignment pay rates and reschedule local assignments. By implementing these changes, I was able to reduce overtime by 57.28% in 2020 saving $164,870 annually on all overtime on the Portsmouth trains.
GE Trip optimizer project - Upon my arrival, the territory average was 46%. After setting my expectations and enforcing my standard I was able to grow the usage to 97.4%, having an 87.4% positive change, and being the Northeast leader in Trip Optimizer usage which significantly saved fuel costs and efficiently operated trains across my territory eliminating train separations on my territory increasing velocity.
By intercepting bare intermodal cars released from the Ports I was able to reduce empty rail car miles across the network. I was then able to match these bare cars up with vessel compression to prevent back logs of import traffic getting loaded containers to destination faster, and better utilization of the car fleet.
