Driver Helper

Memphis Light, Gas, and Water
Memphis , TN
10.2017 - 09.2022
  • A normal day would start with me getting to work thirty to forty minutes early to prep the bucket truck for the day. I would start off with my pre-trip inspection. From there, I would go and do what is called flying the bucket. That entails me hoisting the bucket all the way up and rotating it three hundred and sixty degrees. Once that task is complete, I'd proceed to clean whatever debris is on the bucket truck, should anyone on the other two shifts forget to clean the back of the truck off. Once that is complete, I would proceed to the diesel pumps and fill the truck up if I did not do so the evening prior. Once completed, I would wait patiently for my patroller to get done with her paperwork that morning and collect the tickets needing completion for the day. We would then head to the storeroom, should we need any specific items for the tasks ahead. All would be completed in under an hour's time. From there, we would proceed out the gate to complete the jobs assigned to us. My tasks included operating the bucket to replace or repair street light bulbs, wires, or heads, should they need repairing or replacing. Once all jobs were completed, the patroller would run time in the afternoon. We would head into the main hub to park the truck and leave for the day.
  • Inspected vehicles for mechanical safety issues prior to operation.
  • Attended regular safety meetings conducted by supervisor and manager.
  • Maintained cleanliness of assigned vehicle inside and out throughout duration of shift.
