Situation- Outbound Cotterman ladders were deployed and placed far from the mergers. This caused an increase in jam clear takt time. Also, increasing recirculation of product on the crossbelt.
Task- Provide a safe and efficient 5S location suitable for the Cotterman ladders.
Action- Escalated concern to AM. Set up a floor walk through with AM in order to map out desired placing.
Result- Decreased jam takt time from 8-10 minutes to 2-3 minutes. There is a goal average of about 80,000 cases per shift. For every minute that a jam is not cleared, 134 cases do not make it on the diverts. Ultimately increasing production by 938 more cases per jam.
