Accomplishments

  • Began a Franchisee in 2011 with a Franchisor that was unknown. Opened more locations over the next several years and was very profitable with the company. The Franchisor grew to become an International company and having over 1500 locations Domestically. The Pandemic changed the overall profitability and company structure, however by being resilient through out the next many years to change the direction to keep overall profitability with in the industry.
  • Increased Competitive Advantage. Inverness club faced increasing competition from Home Owner Association. Rebranded unit, marketing tailor made programs to local audience. Gained accredited children’s programs, growing from 200 to 350. Increased overall membership to 4,000+ and revenues from $1.5M to $3.5M in one year.
  • Turned Around Business Unit. Asked to take over Leetsdale unit, the original location of the Colorado Athletic Club, facing significant pressure as revenues dropped more than 25%. Designed and executed change initiatives. Doubled monthly revenues from $65K to $132K, regaining profitability.
  • Contained Costs and Increased Profits. Downtown Denver unit lost business after 9/11. Initiated process improvement initiatives, renegotiated vendor agreements, reduced staffing, trimmed utilities, and lease expense. Increased EBITDA $107K, attaining this budget for the first time in three years.
  • Rewrite Long-term Business Plan. Investors frustrated over lack of ROI when a recent store failed to produce. Inherited unit, evaluated company model, and determined a new plan was needed based on market demographics. Designed and executed plan, increasing memberships from 1,300 to 1,900, generating $170K+ per month.
  • Prevented PR debacle. A fail-safe switch malfunctioned, putting 85 athletic club patrons and employees at-risk. Launched investigation and corrected malfunctioning equipment, company-wide. Advised membership and released press kits. Avoided bad publicity, lawsuits, and gained credibility with community leaders.
