I worked in a specialty clinic. I scheduled appointments for the different clinics. I checked Veteran's in for their appointments. Verified insurance and made updates to their records if needed. I answered the telephone and answer any questions. I get them to the right person if I cannot provide them with the info needed. I stay in constant contact with providers about schedule changes and relay any messages they have received.
I used computers to perform a wide variety of record keeping, correspondence, and tracking operations to include inputting, deleting, retrieving, manipulating, and correcting information in databases. Also, used a variety of software packages. I created, copies, edits, stored, retrieves, and prints a variety of narrative and tabular material. I was able to prepare documents using the proper format, create form letters and perform grammar checks. As a advanced medical support assistant I received all of the relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls; receives and directs patients and visitors; answers routines inquiries providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures; and makes appropriate referral of questions concerning patients' conditions. Keeps time and attendance records, orders, and keeps a record of supplies, assists with tracking budgetary items and receives and distributes mail to the medical staff and patients. I worked collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Coordinated with the patient care team to review the clinic utilization by using various reports that ensure the clinic setup effectively supports the needs of the clinic and makes any necessary adjustments. I am part of the business office . Currently working in the radiology department. Working the front desk answering the telephone and answering questions or transferring to the appropriate destination. Checking patients in for all radiology appointments which can include X-ray's, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography scans, Injections ,Biopsies, Modified Barium Swallow Tests, Bone Density Scans ,Barium Enemas , Esophagrams, Thoracentesis and Verifying insurance coverage. Printing labels for the tests which go to the Technicians. Also notifying them when their Patient arrives. Maintain the front area order and stock supplies, keep the printer filled with paper.
Also making discs of patient images for the VA hospital providers or when a patient is being sent out to a local hospital by the Emergency room. I prepare the next day schedules for the Technicians . I schedule the tests done in radiology.
I work in the patient access department. I have worked at the Heart and Vascular center and the Endocrinology and Imaging center and First Floor Registration. I have opened clinic's in the morning. I Check in patients for their appointments. I verify all information including insurance coverage. During this time I prepare the paperwork for the clinics next day appointments. I also check patients in for the coumadin clinic. I Check patients in and out for our doctors appointments. I have experience in E-Clinical works and Epic systems. I accept payments for co pays and hospital side and equipment fees through Epic and Converge systems. I take calls about appointments, billing. I work independently. Answer the phones and assist patients accordingly.
I arrived in the morning and I would test the water to make sure it was within the guidelines for treatments document all results. Prepare my assigned pod by stringing my machines and testing them. Prep my patients for treatment. Notify the charge nurse to get the ok to proceed. I would cannulate my patient's access for treatment , monitor vital signs and make sure they were comfortable . Draw labs and put them in the centrifuge and then refrigerate them. I also collected urine and stool specimens. At the end of the day the labs were prepared be sent out. I cleaned my work area in between patients and at the end of the day. I also would stock the unit with supplies. I would order supplies as needed. I would dispose of our bio hazard trash at the end of the day and change out the sharps containers. For three months I drew the units water cultures and documented them in the books and on the computer. I also did the AAMI's. And I would participate in the QAI Meetings. I also monitored the charts on the unit and the water room to check for inaccuracies.
