Project Health CV

International Medical Mission | Cape Verde | May 30 – June 6, 2025

Participated in an international medical mission with Project Health CV in Cape Verde from May 30 to June 6, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses to provide surgical care to underserved communities. Assisted medical professionals in clinical and surgical settings, gaining firsthand exposure to operative procedures, patient care, and the challenges of delivering healthcare in resource-limited environments. This experience strengthened my ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure settings, broadened my understanding of global health disparities, and reinforced my commitment to service and improving access to healthcare.

Long-Term Volunteer | 2013 – Present

Have supported Project Health CV’s nonprofit mission in Massachusetts since 2013 by helping collect, transport, and organize donated medical and hospital supplies. My responsibilities include transferring supplies from hospitals to the organization’s warehouses, sorting and organizing the materials, and assembling medical supplies to be shipped to Cape Verde to support healthcare providers and underserved communities. Having been involved with Project Health CV since childhood, I have developed a strong personal connection to its mission and a lasting appreciation for the importance of community service, teamwork, and expanding access to healthcare.

Gala Host | 2024

Hosted Project Health CV’s 2024 fundraising gala, sharing the story of the founders’ children, including myself, and how we have supported the organization’s mission since we were very young. The event highlighted how we grew up volunteering, helping with the nonprofit’s efforts, and continuing the mission that our families have dedicated so much of their lives to. Having been involved since childhood, I was proud to speak about our shared experiences and the lasting impact of growing up connected to a cause centered on improving access to healthcare. This experience strengthened my public speaking, communication, and leadership skills while allowing me to represent an organization that has been a meaningful part of my life for as long as I can remember.
