Karen Ramos - Velasquez

I'm a college student that is currently enrolled at Delaware Techinical Community College in the Owens campus in Georgetown, De. Graduating in May 2024. I'm a first generation that is graduating from college in a Hispanic family household. Third child of six siblings, Being a first generation for my family is a great accomplishment as I have immigrants parents that came to this country without a plan to follow. All my years of living I was always the child in the United States, they could rely on translating anything they needed was the child that went through a lot. I was an only child in the moment that didn't grew up learning english. Instead I grew up speaking Spanish, as my primary language. I'm bilingual, proud to speak two languages where I can always help anyone not only family but neighbors, family friends, my own friends or anyone that needs help of translating. You could say I was always a role model for my younger siblings not as a sister but as a person they could rely I was that sister that taught them english taught them the curriculums I didn't know about nor understood as me being the oldest child and role model I'm proud of where my siblings are at in life.
