- Believe artistic ability is genetic. Father was artist. All 3 children were very artistic. All three won artist of the year their 8 th grade in Jr. high. Drawing/art has always been a passion, escape, therapy for me. It’s a total escape from life and the world for me. I start with a blank piece of paper and a pencil and eraser and never know what’s gonna happen or end up on the paper. Some take minutes - others I rough draft them in and then I keep looking at it from different angles and get a feel for what it needs for me to feel like it’s complete. After the penciling in, then the color begins. I love this step. I use colored pencils, markers, paints- acrylic and water colors. I fill in the artwork until I feel like it’s complete. Last thing I do is sign and date it. This part is a favorite to the ones who already have some of my artwork, because I hide my signature and the date. Everyone seems to love searching for it!
