I care deeply for animals and wildlife conservation. I am an amateur wildlife photographer and am happiest out in nature observing animals in their natural habitats.
I am also a passionate advocate for literacy. I am involved with my community and love working with children.
I provide services to local schools such as reading incentive programs, book fairs and fundraisers. I also participate in community events such as Farmers Markets and local town events.
I participated in a project with Africa Impact at Chimfunshi, one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world. I helped prepare food, assisted the veterinarian with health checks, cleaned enclosures and provided enrichment activities for the chimps.
I volunteered at a hospital, providing newborn kits to women with new babies. I taught breastfeeding classes and fertility classes to women in rural villages. I brought books and toys to an orphanage and organized play activities for the children.
I assisted with daily feeding schedules for dolphins, sea lions and seabirds. I monitored animal behavior and reported any concerns to staff. I gave educational talks to visitors about seabirds and sea lions.
I worked with six orphaned chimpanzees, aged three to nine years. I taught them sign language, took them out to the woods behind the zoo so that they could climb trees and forage for food, and interacted with them daily to promote social development.
