Dynamic art instructor with a passion for teaching mixed media techniques, honed at different places like Art Play Studios. A self-taught artist skilled in book binding and collage, I inspire creativity and confidence in my students. My engaging workshops empower participants to explore their artistic potential and leave with completed projects and newfound skills.
I teach and facilitate art classes for women. These classes are fun and easy and cover many medias, including book binding, mixed media, collage, and watercolor!
Taught a day long workshop.
The morning session I taught each student how to create their own one of a kind hand-bound art journal.
The afternoon session I taught how to create a page within the art journal. During this session I gave instruction on how to use the gelli plate, how to collage, use watercolor, stencils and a variety of other medias.
Everyone left the class with a completed page in their journals and materials to make several more pages. I like to set them up for a successful practice.
I have held several local classes at places like Blue Moon Vintage Market (Westville) and Pieces of Jayde (Valparaiso). I’m always looking for venues where I can teach art! I know the owners of these shops and asked to host classes there.
I have taught classes called
“Creating Sacred Healing scrolls”
“Fun with Gelli printing and collage”
“Making a handmade art journal 101”
“Creating an Art Journal Page”
I was invited to co-host an Art Journaling Retreat with the RWC owner/founder Sandy Coomer. Sandy is a well published author and wanted to host a weekend where creative people could come and learn about art journaling.
I taught the group how to make their own hand bound art journals on day one.
Throughout the weekend I shared art tips and techniques on how to work within the journal, while Sandy taught the writing/journaling parts of the class.
At the end we had everyone combine what they learned and they each created some journal pages within their new journals.
I am a self taught artist
I’ve been artistic my whole life and put it on hold while I raised my boys During Covid, I remembered who I was and began re-learning, using online classes at home!
I’m a mixed media artist, and one day I wanted to have a journal for watercolor practice I couldn’t find the right kind of paper in any journals I bought…so I decided to make my own Once I did that, I became hooked on book binding I watched lots of YouTube videos to learn many kinds of book binding techniques and found what works best for me
Eventually I had people asking me to teach them how to make art projects and their own journals
I never set out on this journey to be a teacher, it just happened! And it turns out, I love to do it and I’m pretty good at it!
