I am a 22-year-old Nursing student at Naugatuck Valley Community College, graduating in May 2024. I have dreamed of working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a registered nurse since the beginning of high school. I want to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of infants. Working in the NICU, I can achieve that by improving and impacting the lives of newborns with medical conditions and critical illnesses while comforting and reassuring their families. I have had a great experience being a private nanny for 2-month-old infant twins who were in the NICU and working in a childcare center as an infant/toddler teacher throughout high school and after I graduated. I also had the advantage of having a clinical rotation in the NICU at Waterbury Hospital. It was a small glimpse of the environment I want to work in, and I am grateful I got the experience. A career in neonatal nursing would be gratifying, being able to work with infants and play a significant role in saving their lives and giving them a chance of survival. I am hardworking, compassionate, and caring, and a position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is what I want to achieve.
