I work as a Direct support specialist which means I help people with disabilities live more independently by supporting daily tasks like cooking, hygiene, and household routines, assisting with community activities and appointments, and teaching skills that improve independence. I also advocate for the individual’s needs, ensure safety, and keep documentation about progress and activities.
At Walgreens I worked as a cashier, I checked people out at the register and also processed returns if needed. I restocked the shelves with new inventory and help with customer service. During my time at Walgreens I also managed the photo station where I helped people print out photos, take passport pics, and make project like canvases or poster boards.
