  • A faculty mentorship program opportunity to get hands on research in the field of biology. The specific concentration I chose to pursue is Bacterial Pathogenesis.
  • The FIRE Bacterial Pathogenesis stream is interested in understanding how the bacterial opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa causes a specific type of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) called catheter-associated urinary tract infections or CAUTI in humans.

Independent research 

I spent 9 months researching the positive and negative impacts of short-term surgical missions in low-and middle-income countries. I then used my research for my senior thesis where I argued that short-term surgical missions did more harm than good in these resource-poor countries.

University of Maryland - Jumpstart to Biological Sciences (7/10/2023)

  • Performed a variety of experiments related to microbiology. Explored current advances in DNA modification, listen to professionals in the field of microbiology, and used CRISPR to modify our DNA samples
